Welcome to the official website of the U.S. Panel on Structural Control and Monitoring.  The U.S. Panel represents the diverse and interdisciplinary community of U.S.-based researchers engaged in advancing the state-of-art in structural control and monitoring technologies.  The panel is a regional panel within the International Association for Structural Control and Monitoring (IASCM).

Given the complexity of large-scale civil structures and the significant loading conditions they are routinely exposed to, there is a clear need for advance technologies that can accurately measure structural behavior and attempt to control undesired responses to severe loads.  The structural control and monitoring technologies currently under development worldwide promise to improve the safety and durability of tomorrow’s civil infrastructure systems.

The charter of the U.S. Panel on Structural Control and Monitoring is to accelerate the advancement of the science and practice of structural control and monitoring, by means of education, research and application of knowledge. This includes the response of large-scale structures to earthquakes, wind and man-made forces.  The U.S. Panel promotes and organizes activities including workshops, conferences and educational initiatives with the aim of fostering close collaboration between the academic and industrial communities.  In particular, the U.S. Panel has a proud tradition of assisting in the planning and execution of the International Workshop on Structural Control and Monitoring and the World Conference on Structural Control and Monitoring.
